Construction Cooperatives Get Organised

About nine construction cooperatives, involved in brick-making and other construction related activities, are meeting to form a secondary cooperative to coordinate and support their activities. These cooperatives are located in the East Rand of the Gauteng Province. Both cooperators and the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan government are excited about this development. Government is fully supporting this initiative and has even provided the Kempton Park Civic Center as a venue for the cooperatives to meet on the 28th February to discuss their initiative. Many of the cooperatives involved in this process believe that a secondary construction cooperative would give them a collective voice across the East Rand and will enable them to secure greater work opportunities.
