DTI Study on Cooperatives

The Department of Trade and Indsutry has concluded a national baseline study on cooperatives in South Africa. This study covers provinces and sectors in which cooperatives operate. The study has yielded important insights on trends within the cooperative sector and challenges facing cooperative development in South Africa. In addition, the DTI has used this research process to develop a national database on cooperative's in South Africa and improve the quality of data available. The research report will also guide the formulation of a national development strategy. All those interested in obtaining the report should contact the DTI cooperative unit directly.
